Week 6 - Death By Rich Bernatovech
Here's my contribution to Illustrious Bits Week 6 - Death, from the Endless. I decided to cute her up a bit and play with the hair a little differently.

Don't worry... DEATH is coming...
He he he.
If any of the other contributors are like me... they are all exhausted from the holidays.
But don't worry, postings of this weeks subject, Death of the Endless (DC's Vertigo), are coming...
We kind of expected this this week so we made this subject 2 weeks long to give everyone time to complete a sketch and post. I should have mine done in the next few days and will post as soon as possible.
To all the other creators out there... no rush. Take your time. Post when you can and I can't wait to see what comes next...
-Drew
PS. I have been tweaking the site a little lately so if you stop back and its completely changed... don't panic, just goofing around trying to make it perfect.

Week 5 - Starfire by Dwayne Biddix
Here is Dwayne Biddix's contribution for Week 5 here at Illustrious Bits. Dwayne did an awesome classic take on Starfire.
Here's what Dwayne said about his piece:
"My drawing of Starfire for weekly contest.
Hope you like it.

Week 5 - Starfire by Jamie Fay
So, here is my take on the Character of the Week, Starfire.
Well, I just had a commission of Starfire that I love but didn't want to post the same exact art. So, I started looking at what I could do. I actually love her new uniform and saw that I could very easily change my commission into the DCnU version.
Here she is. I hope you like her. Danielle has agreed to color her. Can't wait to see what she does with Kori!
Head over and join the DeviantArt group at http://illustriousbits.deviantart.com/! !

Week 5 - Starfire By Luciano Vecchio
I'm proud to post the first contribution for Illustrious Bits by Luciano Vecchio. Luciano was my partner in crime on the Drumfish Productions series - SENTINELS. Over the course of the time we worked on the series, I had the pleasure of watching Luciano grow and master his style. His work is unique and full of passion and energy. He went on to work on many other projects including Real Clohe, Cruel Thing, the Interactives and most recently DC Comic's Cartoon Network Action Pack starring Ben 10 and DC Comic's Young Justice.
Please welcome Luciano and check out more of his work on his Deviant Art page and his blog!

Week 5 - Starfire By Rich Bernatovech
Here is my entry for the fifth week of Illustrious Bits. This week was Starfire from DC Comic's New Teen Titans and Red Hood and the Outlaws. I wasn't really happy with with sketch when I first pencilled it, but after inks and some color, I liked the final version. Starfire is always a fun character to draw. :)

Week 5 - Starfire by Andrew Charipar
This weeks pick was by me for Starfire.
Originally I was blanking on an idea for this week and Jamie was torn between Spider-Woman and Starfire and I just went with it.
Starfire is a great character who I have drawn a few times before and none were that good so I jumped at the chance to re-draw her.
The effects did not come out like I originally planned but i think it came out well. Also, usually I do the black and white then add gray wash later but this time I skipped the gray and just kept it b&w.
enjoy and I can't wait to see what everyone else does.

Week 4 - Spider-Woman by Danielle Alexis St. Pierre
Here is Danielle's amazing piece for Week 4.
Here is what Danielle had to say about her piece:
I went with the Jessica Drew version simply because she's the one I am most familiar with.
I decided I also needed to branch out into uncomfortable territory and work on my perspective abilities. I know it's a little wonky since I rushed it (especially the background)... but at least I tired.
She turned out great, Danielle

Week 4 - Spider-Woman by Lauren Perry
Let me introduce you to another new contributor, Lauren Perry.
Lauren has this to say about her piece:
"Looks like Spider-Woman's in love. I feel sorry for the poor little dead flies. They never stood a chance."
Lauren has a great, and cute, cartoony style that i just love.

Week 4 - Spider-Woman by Andrew Charipar
HA! Fooled you.
I went with the Julia Carpenter version of Spider-Woman for week 4. Why might you as, especailly since the Jessica Drew version is soooo much more popular?
Easy... Black and White, baby.
I loooove the simplicity of the Black and White costume (plus I HATE my coloring latley and chose this version so I did not have to color it... keeping the trend going!).
Anyway, Great pick Jamie!

Week 4 - Spider-Woman By Rich Bernatovech
Another fun choice to draw this week. Here is my contribution to Week 4 of Illustrious Bits! I really enjoyed drawing her and love her costume design and colors. I was hoping to do a full figure of her this week, but didn't have time. The background didn't quite turn out the way I planned either, lol. Still, I had fun working on this.

Week 4 - Spider-Woman by Jamie Fay
Here is my piece for the 4th week - Spider-Woman
I chose Spider-Woman because she is fun to draw and has a timeless costume. She hasn't had any major changes to her suit since being created in the 70's. That says something for her creators.
I'm also lucky to have this piece have an awesome colorist coloring it. Simon Gough, http://spidermanfan2099.deviantart.com/ ,will be coloring her.
Also, so you know, I was kinda inspired by the rose scene in American Beauty when sketching this out. Of course, I had to make her clothed and put in the spider theme, but that was my original inspiration.

Week 3 - Gambit by Danielle Alexis St. Pierre
Here is Danielle's take on Gambit.
Here is what Danielle had to say about the Ragin' Cajun:
I absolutely love Gambit. He's been one of my favorite Marvel characters since I was a little girl watching the 90s X-Men animated series.
One of the great things about being part of this blog is the fact that I am making myself take some time to draw. It's been so much fun.

Week 3 - Gambit by Jamie Fay
Here is my piece for the 3rd week of :iconillustriousbits: - Gambit.
I drew him in his new costume. I like it a lot. also i chose to do a close-up on him, focusing on his charming side lol. I also had a lot of fun drawing his hair. eyes and hair are my favorite things to draw and I think they both turned out great on gambit.
Head over to http://illustriousbits.deviantart.com/ and join up on our Deviant Group as well. :D

Week 3 - Gambit by Andrew Charipar
Leave it to Rich to recommend a "guy" for week 3 and ruin the party, he he he.
This is my Gambit sketch for week 3. This is actually the third sketch I did with the first 2 sucking.
Actually, this one might go up on eBay next week and who ever gets it will see my first attempt on the back, ughh.
enjoy

Week 3 - Gambit By Rich Bernatovech
Here is my contribution for Week 3 of Illustrious Bits! This week's pick was chosen by me and I picked Gambit for two reason. First, because we hadn't drawn a male character yet. And two, because I had wanted to do a print of Gambit for next years convention season. What you see here is my lineart and hopefully I'll have a colored version to show soon (hence why there are no faces on the playing cards, they'll be added digitally).

Week 2 - Zatanna by Jamie Fay
Here is my Zatanna for Week 2.
I went with the DCnU version, with some redeisgn elements as well. I really am proud of the way the magic powers came out.
I was gonna draw her in her older costume, which i've only drawn a few times, but I thought I could make her new costume look good, and I think I succeeded, at least a bit lol
I'll update with a colored version if I get one. I did with Wonder Woman.

Updated: Colored version by Illustrious Bits' Danielle Alexis St. Pierre. Great job Danielle. I love it.
Week 2 - Zatanna By Rich Bernatovech
Week 2 - Zatanna by Andrew Charipar
Zatanna was my choice of sketches for week 2.
I choose Zatanna for two reasons. One, I'm a sucker for a girl in fishnet... and second, I owed a Zatanna sketch to some one and what better way to get it off my list than to make it this weeks subject. Ta-da.
I've drawn Zatanna several times before... sometimes the sketches some out ok... others sucked. This one came out pretty good.
Looking forward to what everyone comes up with...

"The first week is Wonder Woman and I chose to the Lynda Carter/TV Show version.
I grew up watching re-runs of the show and just loved her. This piece was drawn with a 2H lead, on Bristol board and then inked with the Pitt pens I just bought.
I don't know when I'll color it... but I'd like to... maybe even turn it into a print. "

Week 1 - Wonder Woman by Jamie Fay
Well, it's time to start showcasing out first week's sketch - Wonder Woman.
Wonder Woman was my choice for the week. I chose her because I've been wanting to draw her new costume and this gave me a reason to finally do it. The cool thing is, I already have an amazing colorist waiting to color this once I post it to my deviantART gallery. I'll update with the colored version once it's complete. Well, here is my drawing of Diana and I can't wait to see everyone else's take on her.
