Week 14 - Harley Quinn By Rich Bernatovech

Here is my contribution to Week 14 of Illustrious Bits. This week's character was choosen by the fans over on Deviant Art. I always love drawing Harley Quinn and love her original costume design. Sorry, the new DC version is not my taste. Why can't silly and fun characters stay silly and fun?

Week 13 - The Master by Randy Ostridge

Another great sketch from Randy Ostridge... the Master.  Guess he's a pretty popular guy, he he.

Here's what Randy had to say over at Deviant Art...

"This image is for a weekly theme over at the Illustrious Bits sketch group.

The theme was Buffy the Vampire slayer, and I picked the Master because I wanted to draw one of the bad guys, and he has a monster look. A lot of the other bad guys in Buffy tend to hide in normal human shapes. Anyways, this was ratcheted out in about 45 minutes, so definitely a quicky.

Pencil on paper, inked with marker, some texturing and colour adjustment in Photoshop."

Week 13 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer By Rich Bernatovech

I'll be honest, I wasn't planning on drawing this weeks subject on the Illustrious Bits blog. I have been pretty busy and didn't think I would have time. But the other night I did a quick sketch and kind of liked the way it looked. Of course, after inking and coloring it, it didn't quite look the same, lol. But hey, this is for fun and I enjoyed drawing her more than I thought I would.

Week 12 - JEM! by Randy Ostridge

Another great image from Randy... The JEM! group on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine, a great image based on one of my favorite Glee covers.  If you've never seen it, check it out.

"This image is for a weekly theme over at the Illustrious Bits sketch group.

When the theme of Jem came up for the sketch group, I immediately thought about doing a magazine cover of the band. The only music magazine I know is Rolling Stone, so I sorted through some of the their covers. I took inspiration from this Glee cover (my wife loves Glee):

[link]

It worked because it had just the right number of characters, and I could easily see Jem as the central figure. Anywho, it may have been a little ambitious in the end, as I kind of ran out of steam during the colouring process. But it was still pretty fun.

Lineart is pencil on paper, inked with markers. Coloured in Photoshop."

Week 12 - JEM by Andrew Charipar

Having just got back home from Mega Con just a few hours ago, I was half inspired/half tired and out of my mind... and this is what happens...

Jem from the 80's cartoon with just a few liberties... okay... a LOT of liberties, he he he.

Week 12 - Roxy by Danielle Alex St. Pierre

Here's Danielle's contribution to the Jem Week... and it's fantastic!!!

Here's what she had to say over at DA...

"It's week 12 over at :iconillustriousbits: and the subject is any character from the Jem cartoon. I decided to tackle one of the Misfits... so here is my take on Roxy. I took a lot of liberties with her design. :)"

Week 12 - Jem by Rich Bernatovech

Here is my contribution to Week 12 of Illustrious Bits. This week's theme was picked by fans on DeviantArt and is "any character from Jem" (the 80s cartoon). I picked the cartoon's lead character, Jem, as my subject this week. I liked her attitude and how her look was totally a hologram. I had fun drawing this one, especially the hair, lol. The only thing I messed up was her earring. I made it a star and later realized (after inking) that it was really a six pointed type of star, not a standard star. Oh well, lol, she still turned out better than last week's Sailor Moon! :D

Week 11 - Sailor Mercury by Jamie Fay

And yet another Great sketch from Jamie.  Sailor Mercury.

Here's what Jamie had to say over at Deviant Art...

"It's a new week over at :iconillustriousbits: and this week's character/s is any character from Sailor Moon.

Since I've already drawn Sailor Moon herself in the past, I decided I had to draw Sailor Mercury or Venus next. I ended up choosing Mercury. I always liked how smart and caring she was. (I had a small Sailor Moon phase in 8th or 9th grade, when manga and anime started to blow up)

Another great sketch from Danielle of Sailor Moon.  Here's what she said about the sketch over at Deviant Art...

"This week over at :iconillustriousbits: the subject is any Sailor Moon character. So here is my contribution. I decided to tackle Sailor Moon as Neo-Queen Serenity. I wanted to do something simple and romantic... after all Valentine's day is just around the corner. ;)

The background was digitally added after cleaning up the lineart. "

Week 11 - Queen Beryl by Randy Ostridge

This awesome sketch of Sailor Moon's Queen Beryl was contributed by Randy Ostridge and this is what he wrote over at Deviant Art...

"This image is for a weekly theme over at the Illustrious Bits sketch group.

I have seen about two episodes of Sailor Moon in my life, so I am probably butchering this character. One of the main villians in the early series is Queen Beryl, and I just liked her dark look.

Really experimenting with digital painting in this one. I wanted to get a more watercolor feel, but still keep some of the lineart look. I may have overworked it in the end, but it was quite fun!

All Photoshop."

Week 11 - Sailor Moon By Rich Bernatovech

Okay, I'll admit it, this is really not my best work. I was trying for something that just didn't happen with this sketch. I was trying to kind of merge my style with the Anime look for this week's choice on Illustrious Bits of Sailor Moon. I was hoping something different would come out of the merge, but I wasn't really happy with the results. It was a fun experiment at least.

Week 10 - Cammy by Andrew Charipar

OK, I will admit... I went all cheesecake on this one, he he he.

Cammy is NOT my favorite Street Fighter character, that would be Chun Li, but I like her just the same.  This is actually only the second Street Fighter character I've ever drawn, the first being Viper but it was fun and I look forward to taking another crack at it in the future.

I added speed lines digitally but not sure I like the out come so i'm posting both for the fun of it.

enjoy

Week 10 - Cammy by Randy Ostridge

Here is Randy's take on Cammy's original costume.

Here is what he had to say about his piece:

This image is for a weekly theme over at the Illustrious Bits sketch group.I really don't know a whole lot about the Street Fighter franchise, although I am sorry to say I saw that movie with Jean Claude Van Damme. I do recall playing Street Fighter 2 on the Super Nintendo. I think I liked playing Blanka best. I went with Cammy dueling some mysterious foe in a devasted city-scape, as it gave me a little more to draw than just a leggy blonde. Not that there is anything wrong with drawing leggy blondes, minds you. Pencil on paper.

I love the detail you put into this piece, Randy!!

Week 10 - Cammy by Bernce Acosta Llamo aka Loki

Here is what he had to say about his piece:

She's the second female icon for SF series... her moves are sexy too.

She looks great! I love it!
