"Young spin on Cruella De Vil done for the group where the topic this round is:
Week 34 (08/13 - 08/26) - Any Disney Villain
I've been in a huge art slump lately that has nothing to do with artblock and everything to do with me just being very dissatisfied wtih my output and quality. I'm sure every single artist out there has experienced this at one point or another and if you haven't well then you're just not trying hard enough.
Anyway, for this topic I sketched up a bunch of roughs, none of which I was happy with or felt caught the vibe of a young, reckless, and rather punk rock Cruella from maybe her teenage years. So I just started stabbing at an 11x17 inch board and this is what the end result was. Not the vision in my head but at least I'm satisfied to have been able to get something out on paper that didn't involve a deadline or other pressure. Just something for fun, and it felt good.
I'm very behind on all the most recent topics over at the group but with the catch up week coming soon I hope to rectify that as the folks over there are doing some amazing work and I have to knuckle up and start doing something as well."
"llo Everybody! Keeping this simple. Started this a few days ago, then had a few hours to spare today so I finished this. This week's them on were any Disney villain, and I knew I had to do Ursula. I just love how freakingly diva evil she is, and that she looks like a drag queen.
The theme for week 34 on Illustrious Bits is "Any Disney Villain". I wasn't sure how my style would translate to Disney characters, but I defintely knew who I wanted to draw. Maleficent is easily the most striking Disney villain to me. She just has an odd beauty and evilness to her that I don't think many other Disney villains have. I'm excited to see the live action movie with Angelina Jolie when it comes out!
Week 34 - Maleficent from Disney's Sleeping Beauty!
This is the third in my series of Disney Villains... colored.
The Witch from Snow White was RED, Hades from Hercules was BLUE and Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty was Suppose to be GREEN but when my wife saw the initial sketch, she said... "ooooh, purple". So she's PURPLE.
Before I do anything with this one I will clean up the color in photoshop... cause my markers suck (no wonder I hate colors... ughhh)
"Yeah, I was suppose to finish this last week but got delayed since new plans came up and whatnot. I got to finish this today, I hope it won't be a problem.
This time on the theme was, Super Mario! I knew from the beginning I wanted to do something other than Mario or Peach, so Bowser came close to it. Then I really wanted to do something spooky about him...Yeah, I think I managed somehow to create that. LOL.
I actually also created this for the Video Game tent that was going to be at the yearly Festival in Malmö. It just seemed like a good fit. Now I hope I can get it sold!
I almost didn't do a sketch for the latest theme here on Illustrious Bits. Week 33 was "any character from Super Marios Bros." and I totally forgot about it! Doh! I was able to sneak out this sketch of Princess Peach over the weekend though. I was told her name used to be Princess Toadstool, lol. I kinda like that better. It's funnier.
"It's been a while since I've drawn anything... I've had a lot of color work as well as some family issues tying up my time. But today I got this itch to draw that I just couldn't ignore anymore and decided to tackle this week's subject for which is "Any Character from Super Mario Bros." I chose Princess Peach.
Feel free to color the only conditions are: - credit me for the original lineart - do not sell or reproduce"
"This image is for a weekly theme over at the Illustrious Bits sketch group.
The theme was any character from Mario Bros, which I initially wasn't that excited about. But then I got this crazy idea to render the Hammer Bros with a slightly more realistic look. So this was banged out in a single session, and just kinda flowed. I ended up having a huge amount of fun with this concept. Whether it is any good or not... well, that's not for me to judge!
"Digital art: Dwayne Biddix A drawing of Wario from the Mario Brothers game series. Drawn for for their 'Draw any Mario Brothers character' challenge.
I tried a LOT of new stuff here. I am working on my cartoon art. I am working on style matching in the drawing. I am working on a new color style.
And I am pretty happy with how it all came out. And yes I know the coloring style it very realistic for a cartoon style. But since this IS a 3-D video game character that is rendered realistically in the game (ie. not flat or cell shaded) I figured I would give the colors a more realistic look.)
